In an article published by Plastics News last week the FDA announced they would be releasing an official communication on 3D printing and its use within the medical industry.  Opinions appear to vary across the plastics and medical industries where some feel the technology is still too young to be implemented widespread and used for implants while others can attest to the technology, citing custom made implants used to save lives.  Either way, it will be interesting to see the official announcement from the FDA.  While the technology may still need some fine tuning to ensure a better level of safety for patients the process has already had major leaps and bounds within the medical community.  To read the article from Plastics News on the FDA announcement please click here.
